École Olds High School student receives honourable mention for provincial Indigenous award

École Olds High School student, Rayna Scott, has received an honourable mention after being nominated for an Honouring Spirit Indigenous Award earlier this year. The nomination came from educators at ÉOHS, and was submitted to the Alberta School Boards Association.
“When I found out I felt happy and honoured. I could not stop smiling,” says Rayna Scott.
Scott says when she learned that her biological father is Métis, it increased her sense of pride in herself. “I have felt a strong connection to my Indigenous heritage. Being nominated for this award makes me feel seen.”
“We are so proud of Rayna,” says Jana Kemmere, Vice Principal, École Olds High School. “We are proud of the contributions she makes to our school. Watching Rayna find strength in her culture, and seeing her growth has been incredible to watch.”
