Board receives update on pre-K programming
The Board received an update on pre-K programming in the division. Pre-K is currently offered in five schools in the division to support students with medical, and speech and language needs as well as typically developing students when there is space. The division is seeing improvements in skills of students in the program, reinforcing the value of early intervention. Also, the division has seen increased enrolment and diversity in the composition of the program.
Trustees celebrate students who earned 100% on diploma exams
Trustees were pleased to celebrate four Chinook’s Edge students who earned 100% on January diploma exams. Superintendent Kurt Sacher said this is the largest group recognized for this celebration that he has ever seen. Sam Botheras from Sundre High School earned 100% on the Math 30-1 and on the Physics 30 diploma exams. Carlee Schneider from Innisfail High School earned 100% on the Math 30-2 diploma. Sydney Van Ginhoven from École Olds High School achieved 100% on the Math 30-1 exam. Tatyana Wolkowski from École H.J. Cody High school achieved 100% on the Biology 30 exam. The Board and Superintendent congratulated the students, and also their diploma course teachers and principals, and he thanked their parents as well, who were in attendance.
Board approves 2026-27 student attendance calendar
The Board approved changes to the draft 2026-27 student attendance calendar. The final copy will be posted on the division’s website once it is available, here.
Roy. E. Cope Award recipients announced
The Board has selected Kurt Sacher and Ted Harvey as the recipients of the Roy E. Cope Award, which is given out annually to an individual (or individuals) who, in the opinion of the Board, have made a significant contribution to the educational welfare of students. Read more, here.
