FOUNDATIONAL PILLAR - Operational Expectations


It is the will of the Board that the Superintendent provide the Board with information that ensures the timely identification and disposal of surplus land and buildings.


Property – land and facilities owned by the Division


  1. Within a year of a property being vacated, or when directed by the Board, the Superintendent shall develop a report to guide the Board in determining whether the Division has or will have need of the property. That report shall include
    1. current Provincial legislation and regulation applicable to the disposal of properties
    2. demographic factors that might impact future use of the property
    3. other public educational uses for the property (including administration and governance)
    4. any prior commitments that entail a municipalities interest in the disposal of the property
    5. and other criteria the Board considers necessary.
  2. The Superintendent shall not dispose of any real property unless authorized by the Board to do so.


  1. Annually, the Superintendent shall present a list of all properties that the Division owns and has been declared surplus.
