FOUNDATIONAL PILLAR - Operational Expectations


It is the will of the Board that the Superintendent shall ensure that the study of controversial issues support students’ capacity to think clearly, to reason logically, to open mindedly and respectfully examine different points of view and to reach sound judgements.


  1. The Superintendent shall ensure instruction of controversial issues shall
    1. be exercised in a manner that is consistent with the Board’s expectations regarding respectful and safe learning environments
    2. promote critical inquiry rather than advocacy c. promote teaching students how to think rather than what to think.
